Be Kind

My kids pretty much melt my heart on a daily basis. Brandon hates it when Jordan has to go to the doctor. He never wants the doctor to examine her, and he always tries to sit as close to her as he can. I snapped this picture a few months ago to document how much he loves her. He goes out of his way to be genuinely kind to her.

I added some bling to the title to jazz it up a bit. You can see the beautiful ruffled crepe trim I used to create some interest on my page.

If you look closely, you can also see the Clear Scraps star border on top of the crepe paper border. I cut it down to the right size for my design and hid the unfinished edge under the speech bubble.

Starry Graduation Card

Do y'all know what all graduates want this spring as they head off to college? Cash! Of course, I can't just give plain cash. I have to jazz it up a little. I usually tuck the cash into a book, but this time I went a bit fancier.

I had a blast using the Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Star to create a little card with a strip of paper to hold money for the graduate. She was thrilled with her present and plans to keep the star to display in her room.

Supplies: Basic Grey's Highline Paper, Clear Scraps Princess Sequins, Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Mist, My Mind's Eye Sticker Sentiment, and Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Star

Wooden Succulent Card

I loved this wooden succulent card the minute I opened my Clear Scraps design team box. It's no wonder that I used it during my first month designing for Clear Scraps.

First, I stained the wood of the card by wiping it lightly with paint. Then I backed the succulent cut out with different patterned papers so the design would stand out.

The interior of the card came together quickly as well. I made sure to use a neutral background so I could write a message to the future recipient.

Supplies: Clear Scraps Wood Succulent Card, Glitz Design's Dapper Dan Collection, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, and Jenni Bowlin's Brown Sugar Paint Dauber.

2nd Home Decor Project

I got so excited when I saw the House DIY Pallet in the Clear Scraps store. I knew I would use it to create a project about our new house. It rarely ever snows in Louisiana, but it snowed TWICE in Louisiana last winter. I decided to use pictures of our new house covered in snow. It was a bit of a challenge to pull the non-traditional color scheme into a bit of a theme to match the photos, but I pulled it off.

I had a ton of fun creating this project, and I created a .PDF file with instructions for anyone who is interested in recreating it. The file is available for download at the Clear Scraps blog.

You can see in the detailed shots that I also used a Home Chipboard Word Title, and the Winter Sequins from Clear Scraps.

Other Supplies: Jenni Bowlin's Brown Sugar Paint, Miss Kate's Cuttables Snowflake File, Silhouette, Fiskars Punch, Glitz Design's Dapper Dan collection, Studio Calico Mist, Maya Mist and acrylic craft paint.

You Will Be Fine

I am so very excited to announce that I am now on the Clear Scraps design team! It's been a long time since I've been on a design team, and I've missed the challenge of scrapping on a deadline. This is the first project for my term. I used the Clear Scraps Feathers Layering Stencil to create the funky feathers that I used as embellishments.

The first layer of the feathers was created with a hot pink gelato. I made sure to let that layer dry thoroughly before I added the next layer of black ink. Then I fussy cut everything out and layered it with some other fabulous embellishments including the Clear Scraps Princess sequins. Here's a closer view of one of the embellishment clusters.

Other Supplies: Basic Grey's Highline Paper and Embellishments, Bazzill Cardstock, and Pink Paislee's She Art Rub Ons.

I love these pictures of my kids in the petting zoo at our VBS last summer. Brandon really wanted to hold the chicken, so someone caught it and handed it to him. Once he had the chicken, he panicked. He really didn't know what to do with it! He said, "Mom, Come get this thing." It cracks me up every time I see this photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll see you soon.

I'm Back

I have to admit the last few years haven't been kind to my family, and I've dropped off of the radar completely. (I got skin cancer, my Mom passed away, and much more.) I have missed blogging, I missed scrapbooking even more, and I missed my online friends the most. I'm sorry that I haven't been around much. Looking back, I honestly wish that I would've blogged through the storms that we've been through. My blog is a record of my children's lives as much as it is about my scrapbook pages and I missed sharing so many big life events. I found out recently that my kids have been going back through my blog to read the older posts about when they were little. You can bet that lit a fire in my heart to get back to documenting our lives on my blog and through my scrapbook pages.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet! I plan to be back soon.

Almost Perfect

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that we have a new family member. He's been keeping us so busy that I haven't posted about him here yet. Sophie passed away this May on Mother's Day and we were pretty sure we wouldn't get another dog. Unfortunately, Brandon had a really hard time adjusting to life without a dog because one of his coping mechanisms was cuddling Sophie. We ended up with this sweet guy in July.

His name is Rocky Beauregard Landry and he was under four pounds when we brought him home. He's lived with us for four months now and we couldn't be more in love with him. He's grown just a little.

Brandon wanted a bigger dog who would run around and fetch a ball. I wanted a big, cuddly snuggle buddy. We all got what we wanted. He fit into our family seamlessly and basically potty trained himself. He's a smart cookie!

Before I forget, I have a layout to share as well. It features a photo from a wonderful day that we spent as a family. We took the kids outside to play baseball and the weather was just perfect. Jordan stopped playing for a while because she was tired, and Ronnie took a break to cuddle her. She's always had him wrapped around her little finger.

I created a pie chart cut file for this page and backed it with different patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye Ashbury Heights collection. I don't usually scrapbook with darker colors, but I really like the way my project turned out. The striped gold washi tape in that collection is fabulous! I'm going to need more of it soon.
